ArtReach Teaching Artists will enrich the classroom experience for both teacher and student. Students will practice artistic skill-building, experiment with a variety of media, and learn local and global art history in a supportive yet challenging environment. Teaching Artists will focus on helping each young artist find their personal artistic voice while learning to grow confident in facing artistic challenges.

All lessons are 1 hour in length. ArtReach requests a dedicated classroom for all workshops, where students rotate to the art room. Art techniques include drawing, painting, sculpture, fiber art, collage, and printmaking. Classes are grade-specific, standards-based, and further the creative development of each individual student.

The ArtReach SPARK Program provides students with hands-on art experiences, connecting them with community artists and contemporary art practices. The program prioritizes student voices, involving them in the collaborative conceptualization and creation of large-scale artworks. These artworks are then installed in public spaces on campus. Throughout the residency, students learn about the creative process and various artistic techniques from community artists, allowing them to contribute to the project’s overall creative vision in unique and individualized ways.

The SPARK Program offers a fully customizable experience, with residencies ranging from 4 to 12 weeks and involving a single classroom to the entire school. The program starts with skill-building and ideation sessions led by a community artist. This is followed by art-making sessions, where students create the artwork and build the installation. The program culminates in the installation of the artwork on campus, with students coordinating a final event to present their work to the public.

Customize the SPARK program to align with your school community’s vision. Each program empowers students to discover their creative voice through collaboration and artistic expression, culminating in a unique installation project. We can incorporate classroom topics, STEAM, SEL, and a range of cross-curricular integrations into your residency.
