This vibrant mural, a collaboration between the ArtReach Mural Program and 8th-grade ASB students, serves as a testament to the spirit and unity of the STEAM Academy community. Designed by Esteban Sánchez, it welcomes all with the guiding school motto of “Let STEAM Academy Pride Be Your Guide” while also depicting some of the many visual elements that define the school’s identity in prioritizing Science Technology Engineering Art and Math (STEAM) education. From the spirited roadrunner mascot racing against the backdrop of Spring Valley’s iconic natural landmarks, to symbols representing the strength of the Science and Engineering programs, every detail reflects the essence of this school. The presence of an acoustic guitar references the thriving music program, while an open laptop symbolizes the integral role of technology in modern education. California poppies add a touch of local pride, and a breakdancing student captures the energy of the school’s dance culture.

Generously sponsored by The Langston Family Foundation and The Ruth & Joseph C. Reed Foundation for the Arts, this mural stands as a tribute to STEAM Academy’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded learners and fostering a sense of community pride.
