Welcome to HTMM!
Mural Artist: Esteban Sánchez
December 2024
This dynamic mural at High Tech Middle Mesa is a tribute to the school’s identity, natural surroundings, and community spirit. Designed by Esteban Sánchez, it features symbols like the dragon, made popular by student lore, the thunder mascot, and elements of the local landscape—ocean, mountains, desert, and native flora such as California poppies, desert blooms, agave, and cacti. The school’s name is prominently displayed in bold text, uniting these strong symbols of nature and pride.
The mural’s creation was a collaborative journey, involving three student workshops where middle school students contributed their ideas and inspirations. Their input shaped the final design, ensuring a deep connection with the HTMM community. Additionally, three student paint days allowed students to actively participate in the mural’s creation, fostering a sense of ownership and accomplishment.
This design celebrates themes of growth, resilience, and connection, using bold colors and dynamic imagery to reflect the spirit and values of High Tech Middle Mesa. The mural not only welcomes all to campus with a bright pop of color, but also stands as a lasting testament to the creativity and teamwork of its students and staff.
