ArtReach has opened a new 6,000 sq. ft. art studio in Hillcrest, San Diego. This facility will offer free and affordable visual arts workshops to over 2,100 participants each year, including children, teens, families, and adults. The studio includes two new art spaces – Sun Room Studio for children ages 3-11 and Garage Studio for teens and adults.
Sun Room Studio
The Sun Room Studio is a fine arts studio for children ages 3-11. In this creative space, children will explore a wide range of techniques in dry and wet media, with a focus on process-based learning and social-emotional learning themes.
Garage Studio
The Garage Studio is a process-based makerspace for teens ages 12+ and adults. The workshops emphasize collaboration, exploring identity, and showcasing various techniques including sewing, rug tufting, printmaking, dyeing, sculpture, and more.
Artist-Led Workshops
Community Programs aim to enhance visual arts education for San Diego residents by facilitating direct connections between local artists and the public. Artists and their creations are what make our communities vibrant and cool. As an organization made up of artists, we are committed to supporting our peers through paid teaching opportunities. These programs offer a range of low-cost hands-on art workshops for the public and paid teaching development for artists. By providing these opportunities, we establish a nurturing and creative space that encourages self-expression and fosters a supportive learning environment for all.
Our Artist-Led Workshops feature local practicing artists teaching processes and concepts directly related to their personal art practice. All workshops are beginner-friendly and open to most ages.
